Dent McSkimming

St. Louis newspaperman who was the only American reporter at the 1950 World Cup in Brazil, where the United States upset England. McSkimming worked for newspapers in St. Louis and elsewhere from 1913 to 1961. He was on vacation at the 1950 World Cup, rather than having been sent there by the paper he worked for, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, but covered the games as part of his decades-long campaign to help keep soccer in the public eye. Inducted in 1951.
