DJORN'S DJOURNAL: Topping Out the National Soccer Hall of Fame
It’s a big day for us here in Frisco! We are hosting our Topping Out Ceremony in the Vazata Super Suite as the final beam in the construction of the National Soccer Hall of Fame is put into place. It’s taken a tremendous amount of work to get to this point, but our work is not done. As fans pour into Toyota Stadium over the next several months they are going to see the building taking shape very rapidly as we build up to Induction Weekend on October 20-21.
So how much work has gone into the construction at this point? How much construction material are we talking about? Funny you ask, because we have the numbers!
- Total yards of dirt excavated: 33,000 cubic feet OR 1,600 truck loads hauled out
- Yards of concrete poured: 3,200 cubic yards OR 320 cement trucks worth
- Total tonnage of steel erected: 595 tons OR 8,000 Maxi Urrutis worth
- Total tonnage of canopy steel: 51 tons OR 102,000 soccer balls worth
- Total man hours: 91,000 hours OR 10 years of time
- Recycled aluminum bleachers: 35,000 lbs from the south end, materials that did not go into a land fill
It’s amazing to think about when you put the amount of work and materials into relative terms. But as I mentioned, there is still a great deal of work to do! We are still working on exact timing, but we will be able to open the HOF seats and Lamar Hunt US Open Cup Club this summer for fans to get their first taste of this new premium seating area. I can’t wait for our first match in the new building!

We were also thrilled this week to go on sale for the Imagine Dragons concert that will headline Induction Weekend in October.
