A longtime Chicago-area star who captained the U.S. Men’s National Team in the late 1960s. Bachmeier, a defender and midfielder, played a total of 22 games for the United States, including nine World Cup qualifiers. He was captain of the team for the six qualifiers played in 1968 and 1969. Bachmeier played most of his club soccer for the Chicago Kickers of the National Soccer League of Chicago and was a star of the Chicago Mustangs in the first season of the NASL. Inducted in 2002.
