Midfielder who was one of the stars of the United States team at the 1930 World Cup in Uruguay. Gallagher, who also played for the United States in the 1934 World Cup, had emigrated from Scotland in 1913 at the age of 12. Gallagher played 12 seasons in the original American Soccer League, appearing in 349 games in that league and winning ASL titles with J&P Coats in 1923 and New York Giants in 1932. He scored a key goal in New York’s dramatic second leg comeback in the 1932 final. Inducted in 1986.
